Xiaomi to upgrade 20 devices to MIUI 13 and Android 12 outside China in initial upgrade rollout

Not only is Xiaomi preparing to upgrade numerous devices to MIUI 13 in China, but it is also readying equivalent builds for global audiences. Initially, Xiaomi will upgrade 20 devices to both MIUI 13 and Android 12, including the Mi 10T, POCO F2 Pro and the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Yesterday, we reported that Xiaomi had finalised MIUI 13 builds for several devices in China, including the MIX 4 and the Mi 11 Ultra. Xiaomi is tipped to announce MIUI 13 on December 28, possibly alongside the Xiaomi 12. Incidentally, Xiaomi has begun teasing its next flagship on Weibo.

According to Xiaomiui, Xiaomi is also set on initially upgrading 20 devices to MIUI 13 outside China. As the table below outlines, not all devices are flagships, such as the Mi 11 Lite 4G and the Redmi Note 10 4G. However, Xiaomi has based all builds on Android 12, signified by the 'S' after the digits in their build number.

Xiaomi has not announced when it will commence its MIUI 13 global rollout. Currently, Xiaomi's global website does not acknowledge MIUI 13's existence. Xiaomiui expects the company to start upgrading devices outside China in January, although this appears to be an educated guess more than anything else. Either way, Xiaomi's MIUI 13 upgrade plans will be extensive and will stretch deep into 2022, as its MIUI 12 rollout did this year.
