LG started its Android 11 update program for its higher-end phones, the innovative Wing included, some time ago. However, it seemed sluggish even before the company decided to exit the smartphone market. The Wing on Verizon has only now just started to see what might be one of its last ever updates.

LG had started its update process for the Wing, the former smartphone OEM's most unique dual-screen device, albeit at the start of January 2021. This build was released for units of this device located in South Korea. Now, just about 12 months later, a version of this build that is compatible for those on Verizon in the US is ready at last.

This update, known as the F100VM20a firmware for the LM-F100VM variant of the Wing, obviously upgrades the phone to Android 11. It also adds a dedicated quick-settings icon for Tap&Pay while the device's NFC is on; notification bubbles and takes the 802.11 mode for the mobile-data hotspot away.

This update has also switched the Wing's Wireless Emergency Alert APK from one provided by LG to one distributed by Google. Therefore, this update might just be set up for life without support from an active OEM - on the other hand, as LG has committed to 2 years' worth of software updates for its higher-end phones, the Wing might see 1 more update at least.
