LG Wing: Touchpad functionality enhanced with January update
LG is yet to upgrade any device to Android 11, but it does continue to add features to the Wing, which we dubbed one of the most unusual smartphones of 2020 when we reviewed it earlier this month. As usual, LG is delivering new features to the South Korean version of the Wing first; it may take a few months before LG brings European and US variants up to speed.
Nonetheless, the January update for the Wing improves its touchpad functionality. In our experience, the touchpad has proven useful when using the Wing one-handed. Two-finger scrolling remains possible, but LG has now added panels for scrolling horizontally and vertically with one finger. LG has not explained why it has introduced this feature, although it cannot be disabled. However, we have found that the new panels make it more comfortable when scrolling with the touchpad while holding the Wing in one hand.
Additionally, LG has added the date and time to the second screen notification panel; a minor refinement. Moreover, LG claims to have improved the camera app's night-lapse mode quality. The latest update contains the January 2021 security patch, too.
