LG confirms Android 12 updates for three more smartphones this quarter
LG has announced the next wave of Android 12 updates for its remaining smartphones. For context, LG also plans to upgrade a few handsets to Android 13, but none will receive Android 14 or beyond. So far, LG has updated the Velvet to Android 12 and only in South Korea. However, LG should extend its Android 12 rollout to ten devices eventually, including the V60 ThinQ.
Now, LG has confirmed that the Q92 5G, V50 ThinQ and V50S ThinQ will all see Android 12 before the end of Q2 2022. In other words, LG will upgrade these three devices to Android 12 before July 1. Based on LG's previous announcements, Android 12 will be the last OS update for the Q92 5G, V50 ThinQ and V50S ThinQ too.
In comparison, LG plans to bring new Android security patch updates to the Q52 and Wing this quarter. Typically, LG releases monthly security patch updates to the Wing, although this occasionally slips to bi-monthly updates instead. Unfortunately, if Android 11 is anything to go by, it could be late 2022 before the Wing sees Android 12. Incidentally, the Wing is one of three devices set to receive Android 13, probably by the time Android 14 arrives.
