Almost a year has passed since the LG Wing launched, which we reviewed in January. LG released the Wing on October 15, for reference, having announced it a month earlier. The company has since shuttered its smartphone division, but not without promising three OS updates for the LG Wing, which would take it to Android 13.
In June, we lamented that the LG Wing remained on Android 10, with LG silently switching from monthly to bi-monthly updates at the start of 2021. Arguably, the state of software support for the LG Wing has worsened.
As LG's Korean support page shows, it last updated the device in July, albeit only to the July security patch. Typically, LG updates is Korean devices first; US versions of the Wing received touchpad functionality about 8 months after Korean models did.
As it stands then, the LG Wing is adrift on outdated software and security patches. There is some light at the end of the tunnel, though. Supposedly, LG remains on track to update the Wing to Android 11 this quarter, but only in South Korea.
Sadly, the OS update has slipped to Q1 2022 for the Wing in Germany. Hence, it may be March 2022 before the LG Wing receives Android 11 in most markets. Who knows when Android 12 will arrive.
