Xiaomi sold over a million Mi 8 devices in just eighteen days
Xiaomi released the Mi 8 phones last month, the premium devices proceeding to go on sale just three weeks ago. It would appear that sales of the phones have gone extremely well, with the company announcing that it has sold over a million units in that period.
This delightful piece of information was revealed by the company’s global spokesperson, Donovan Sung, on Twitter a few days ago. If the tweet is any indication, this sales cuts across the three devices—the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer.
Truth be told, by itself, this figure is not particularly impressive. Just last month, we saw Nokia post similar figures with the X6, and OnePlus also claims to have sold a million units of the OnePlus 6 within a similar time frame.
However, devices like the Mi 8 aren’t Xiaomi’s bread and butter, as the company’s forte lies somewhere south, in the mid-range and budget segments. That considered, shipping a million units of premium devices in under three weeks shows that the company has been doing something right. Making iPhone X clones wasn’t such a bad idea, it would seem.
