Xiaomi reveals Redmi K50 series launch date as it teases Redmi K50 Pro+ details
Only a few weeks have passed since Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi K50 Gaming, the first member of the Redmi K50 series. Also available in a Mercedes-AMG livery, the Redmi K50 Gaming features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and plenty of gaming features. Now, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch more Redmi K50 devices on March 17, as its teaser images below show.
Specifically, Xiaomi will commence its Redmi K50 series launch event at 19:00 China Standard Time (11:00 UTC). For context, the company has scheduled its Xiaomi 12 series global launch event 48 hours earlier. While Xiaomi has not stated how many devices it will reveal on March 17, representatives have posted to its Weibo account using a Redmi K50 Pro.
Predictably, Xiaomi has provided a few details about at least one more member of the Redmi K50 series. At the time of publication, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi K50 series will feature a Dimensity 9000-powered model. Launched last year, the Dimensity 9000 is a 4 nm SoC that includes an ARM Cortex-X2 core at 3 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores running at 2.85 GHz and a further four Cortex-A510 cores restricted to 1.8 GHz. The Dimensity 9000 also has a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU with 10 of its 16 cores occupied.
Based on earlier rumours and leaks, the device in question is the Redmi K50 Pro+, with the Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro set for the Snapdragon 870 and Dimensity 8100, respectively. Additionally, Xiaomi has teased that the device will include a 108 MP primary camera, possibly the same sensor found in the Redmi Note 11 series. Undoubtedly, Xiaomi will reveal more details about the Redmi K50 series between now and March 17.
