The global version of the Xiaomi 12X comes with two key differences compared to the Chinese one: 8 GB maximum RAM and slightly lower maximum brightness on the AMOLED display. These downgrades certainly do not hinder the performance of the Snapdragon 870 SoC that is still one of the best processors at this price point. Also included is the latest MIUI 13 OS based on Android 12.

Together with the 12 and 12 Pro high-end handhelds launching globally, Xiaomi is also offering the 12X model with a more affordable price yet still retaining most of the premium features from the superior class. Some of the specs on the global version of the Xiaomi 12X appear to be slightly downgraded compared to the original Chinese release, but even so, the model remains an excellent mid-range option.

Screenwise, the Xiaomi 12X features a 120 Hz 2400 x 1080 6.28-inch AMOLED display with adaptive refresh rate and 480 Hz touch sampling rate, plus HDR10+ and Dolby VIsion support with a maximum peak brightness of 1100 nits (Chinese version has 1600 nits). The affordability of this model mainly comes from the use of the Snapdragon 870 SoC clocked at 3.2 GHz with integrated Adreno 650 GPU that is one generation behind the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Nevertheless, the chip remains one of the fastest and energy efficient processors at this price point and Xiaomi is including a LiquidCool solution to lower operating temperatures even more. Additionally, the back plate comes in three color options, including black, blue and purple.

Another spec difference for the global variant of the Xiaomi 12X is noticed with the RAM capacity. While the Chinese version offers 12 GB, the global one is limited to 8 GB. There is no 128 GB storage option, either, just the 256 GB UFS 3.1 one.

No differences as far as the camera system is concerned, thankfully. The main camera offers 50 MP resolution, 8K video recording and HDR capabilities. There is also an ultra-wide 13 MP camera, as well as a 5 MP sensor with tele-macro lens. On the front, we find the 32 MP selfie camera with HDR capabilities and AI-powered enhancements. Other features include Harman Kardon stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, a 4500 mAh battery with 67 W Turbo Charging, dual 5G band, Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.1 and the MIUI 13 OS based on Android 12.
