Xiaomi Smart Band 7 NFC surfaces ahead of new global release
It appears that Xiaomi is preparing to launch an NFC-enabled version of the Smart Band 7 globally, nearly a year after releasing the fitness tracker in China. To recap, Xiaomi launched a non-NFC-enabled version outside its home market in June 2022, with the Smart Band 7 Pro following a few months later. Incidentally, evidence has since emerged that Xiaomi is finalising a Smart Band 8.
In short, the Smart Band 7 NFC is functionally the same as the regular Smart Band 7. As such, the Smart Band 7 NFC has a 1.62-inch AMOLED display, a 180 mAh battery and 120 pre-installed exercise modes. According to Xiaomi's website, the NFC model retains its counterpart's 14 days rated battery life, which Xiaomi estimates drops to 9 days with 'heavy use'. The Smart Band 7 NFC misses out on a GPS module like the regular Smart Band 7 too, though.
Not only does the Smart Band 7 NFC support MasterCard payments like its predecessors, but it also supports Visa cards. Participating banks vary between countries, the details of which you can find in a dedicated support document. Xiaomi has not announced pricing yet, either. If Xiaomi's pricing remains consistent across generations, then the Smart Band 7 NFC will launch for roughly €69.99, €10 more than the regular Smart Band 7. Please see Xiaomi's website for more details.
