Reviews for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G
With the Redmi Note 10 5G, Xiaomi introduces another inexpensive smartphone that aims to score points with a generous set of features. A modern SoC, fast storage, microSD support, an IR blaster, a large battery, and an audio jack are included in the list. Does that mean you can be blissfully happy for less than 200 Euros (~$239)?

The Redmi Note 10 5G is a classy-looking budget phone that provides 5G connectivity and excellent battery life at an incredibly low price. You’ll have to make some sacrifices when it comes to display and camera quality in order to reap those 5G benefits, however, and it’s not the fastest performer for the money.

Were it tuned to better manage its consumption during certain specific use cases, such as video streaming and playback, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G would have closer performance results to its non-5G Xiaomi counterpart. But it provides more than 2.5 days of moderate use when starting from a full charge; moreover, its stationary and on the go autonomy performances were nearly identical to the non-5G version’s, and better than its Oppo and Vivo rivals.

Overall the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G is priced at P9,990 for the lower configuration of 4GB+128GB while the 8GB/128GB variant costs P11,490. If you’re eyeing an entry-level future-proof device the Redmi Note 10 5G promises faster data connectivity with a gaming prowess that is capable of up to 90fps gaming. If every game developer started to adapt above the 60fps mark on their in-game settings, this gonna be a long-term smartphone.

The Redmi Note 10 5G is a mid-range device that Xiaomi has to offer if you are eyeing a 5G phone with better efficiency, and gaming powered machine. It doesn't have an AMOLED panel unlike the Redmi Note 10 but this one offers a 90hz IPS display. The question is does the 5G version offers more with its higher refresh rate?

This offering from Xiaomi is another recent offering that is perhaps sold on its photographic and video abilities but instead of it costing a lot it’s more of a mid-range to budget offering. This is a name that may not be known that much in the UK.

The Redmi Note 10 5G is somewhat intriguing due to its 5G connectivity and solid performance. The variable refresh rate is a nice touch, even if you take out my experiences with stutters, and the Dimensity 700 can handle most of what you might want to throw at it. Even battery life is going to be great thanks to the combination of the LCD display and the massive 5,000mAh battery. But you’re going to instantly be smacked with disappointment when it comes time to re-charge your phone. What makes this such a difficult phone to recommend is purely thanks to Xiaomi. The company’s Poco M3 Pro is priced even lower, features practically the same spec sheet, and looks almost identical. This includes the 5,000mAh battery, Dimensity 700 SoC, and the same triple camera array. There’s even a 90Hz refresh rate mode on the M3 Pro, adding insult to injury. Truthfully, the only reason we would really recommend grabbing the Redmi Note 10 5G over the M3 Pro is if you can’t get your hands on the Poco option.

And all in all, the Redmi Note 10 5G is priced at only RM799. You’ll get 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, and it’s available in 4 different colors – Chrome Silver, Graphite Gray, Nighttime Blue, and Aurora Green. So – ultimately, the Redmi Note 10 5G is for those who are looking for a phone at this price point but also want some sort of “futureproofing” and support 5G too. And hey, if you ever want to upgrade to another phone in the future when 5G comes out – then you can give this phone to your parents – and they get to enjoy 5G without buying another phone.

Many sacrifices were made to make a very affordable 5G phone at this point, and it seems that we’ve made it past the point that the phone is sadly a let-down especially compared with its LTE siblings, and with 5G technology still in its infancy, these trade-offs don’t seem to make sense if you’re just looking for a cheap, reliable phone you can use as a daily driver. However, if you’re in an area that already benefits from better speeds 5G can offer and don’t mind the tradeoffs this phone has, then definitely this is for you.

Like many affordable 5G phones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G is sadly a let-down compared with its LTE rivals, including Xiaomi’s own Redmi Note 10 Pro and the Motorola Moto G50. Considering the main advantages of 5G include gaming or media streaming in busy areas with zero chance of Wi-Fi, this handset’s display tech is sadly limited. We were also let down by that camera, which struggled far too often to capture respectable photos and video. If you absolutely must have 5G at a low price, also check out the Motorola Moto G50, Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite, Realme 8 5G or Oppo’s A74 5G.

Well, here we are, at the end of this review, and we still can't find one solid reason why you'd have 5G by compromising screen quality, performance, and camera skills. But if you have one, or more, the Redmi Note 10 5G is indeed one of the most affordable 5G smartphones out there and it won't fail you whatever the task. Our only advice is to look through all options available to you, as this entry-level market has proven to be incredibly dynamic, and prices go up and down in the blink of an eye. Find the right price with the best features set possible and go for it. There is a good chance it could be the Redmi Note 10 5G - we can recommend it for what it is - an affordable entry-level 5G-enabled phone.

Up until now, a ‘budget’ 5G phone meant spending at least £300 / $350, unless you went for the cheaper Redmi Note 9T. Now, thanks to the Dimensity 700 processor, there’s a selection of very similar 5G phones available for a third cheaper but with 90Hz screens. Xiaomi’s effort in the Redmi Note 10 5G is a good one, but there are plenty of signs that it’s built on a budget. So if you won’t be happy with a screen that has mediocre colours and viewing angles, or decidedly average cameras, then it may not be the best choice for you. Then again, the alternatives aren’t a whole lot better. The Realme 8 5G may be thinner, lighter and have a 16Mp selfie camera, but it uses the slower UFS 2.1 storage. So tradeoffs are inevitable: it’ll be down to which components you value most that determines which of the bunch is the best.

Putting that aside, I would recommend you to get the standard Redmi Note 10 instead. The attraction of having an AMOLED display plus an ultra-wide camera is just too… attractive. That being said, if you are looking for a 5G-capable device, the Redmi Note 10 5G is the cheapest that you can get in the market right now at just RM799.

From a performance standpoint, the Redmi Note 10 5G is a serviceable workhorse phone with 5G, a 90Hz refresh LCD display and long battery life. If you’re looking for a budget phone with 5G connectivity, the Redmi Note 10 5G is possibly one of the most affordable options that you can buy that’s under RM1,000. Our Redmi Note 10 5G review unit has 4GB less RAM than the retail unit that will be sold in Malaysia and thus is slightly less nimble at switching apps and getting about. Add in the official RM799 price and the specifications of the Malaysia version with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage and it suddenly looks like a value-packed prospect indeed. While 5G is somewhat distant on the horizon for now, this represents a good, somewhat future-proof budget phone indeed.

It is a small display format for smartphones. You shouldn't be severely defective in vision, and you won't see much detail on the screen and only have a small resolution available. For that, the device should be small and handy, easy to transport.

74.32%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation.
