Xiaomi Poco Pad M1: Recommended mid-range tablet

In our review, the Xiaomi Poco Pad M1 proved to be a well-rounded mid-range tablet that scores points above all with its large 12.1-inch display and solid everyday performance. The aluminum unibody is cleanly crafted, appears robust, and conveys an overall impression of high quality. Xiaomi offers the tablet in only one configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, but it does have a microSD slot and a 3.5 mm jack. However, 5G, NFC, and a vibration motor are not included.
The Pad M1 relies on Wi-Fi 6 for communication, but also uses the 6 GHz band in the test, enabling high data rates. The touchscreen is precise and compatible with the optional Poco Smart Pen. There is some confusion regarding the software communication update period: the community is talking about updates until 2029, while the EPREL database shows five years, i.e., at least until 2030.
The cameras deliver decent results for a tablet, but clearly lag behind current smartphones. The quality is sufficient for video conferences, snapshots, and simple documents. The LCD display impresses with accurate colors, good contrast thanks to the low black level, and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. Another positive feature is the flicker-free display without PWM; there are limitations in terms of brightness outdoors and support for only one HDR standard. Powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, the system runs smoothly, even if very demanding apps reveal its limitations.
The quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, on the other hand, sound only average and somewhat hollow. On the other hand, the battery life of the 12,000 mAh battery, which can be charged at 33 watts, is very good. All in all, the Poco Pad M1 (buy here on AliExpress) is a recommendable tablet for users who are looking for a large display area, long battery life, and good value for money.
