RedMagic has confirmed that a major change is afoot with its latest gaming tablet. Refreshed last month with a new model, RedMagic Japan has revealed that the RedMagic Astra is set to be discontinued amid ongoing production capacity shortfalls.

Last month, RedMagic refreshed its Astra gaming tablet with a new version that continues to undercut other Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered tablets like the OnePlus Pad 3 on size (curr. $568 - used on Amazon). Now, RedMagic Japan has announced the discontinuation of all Astra variants. Announced on X, the company also confirmed that it has no plans to restock the device, either.

Consequently, RedMagic Japan has advised potential buyers to pick up an Astra while remaining inventory is still available. In a follow-up statement, the company clarified that Astra sales had exceeded internal expectations, adding that demand outstripped supply even after maximising its production capacity.

Apparently, ongoing memory supply constraints have compounded RedMagic's inability to meet demand for its gaming tablet too. With all that in mind, the company has decided cease further production and focus on next-generation hardware instead. RedMagic has not confirmed yet whether this change affects the Astra globally though, or whether Japan is the only market in which its gaming tablet will no longer be available.
