Xiaomi Mix 5 replacement to feature dual under-display cameras and 4x zoom lens
Word on the grapevine indicates Xiaomi is unlikely to launch a Mix 5 this year. That potentially signals the end of the Xiaomi Mix lineup with the last entry in the series being 2021's Mix 4. A new device is expected to replace the Mix 5, however, with a new leak now revealing some more details of the phone.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, it appears Xiaomi is prepping a new device to take up the mantle of the Mix series. This new device, currently unnamed, is said to sport the "ultimate four-narrow bezels" setup, indicating completely symmetrical, ultra-narrow bezels. Previous entries in the Mix lineup have showcased the bezel-less design at its possible extreme, but it appears this upcoming smartphone will take that even further.
The leaker also claims the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8-series chipset, likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or whatever the most powerful Qualcomm SoC is when it debuts. In addition, it will go one step further than the Mix 4 which featured an under-display selfie camera, by sporting two UDCs. The Mix 4's implementation of that technology was far from ideal, though, and fans will be expecting significant improvements in that department. Lastly, a 4x telephoto camera is touted, although that's hardly a standout feature in the flagship space these days.
