Xiaomi Mi Mix 5 tipped to offer 150 W fast charging, Leica co-branding on the cards for the 50 MP Sony IMX707 triple-camera
Before Qualcomm made the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 official last year, there were indications that support for 150 W fast charging in Android flagships was imminent. Oppo was recently known to be testing 150 W charging and word on the street is that even Realme is contemplating on offering such a feature in the company's upcoming Dimensity 8000-powered phones. Now, we are getting to know that Xiaomi could very well offer 150 W fast charging in the soon-to-be-released Mi Mix 5 flagship.
MyDrivers reports that the next Mix phone, which is touted to be the Mix 5, will feature 150 W fast charging making it the fastest charging phone to launch in China. This would enable the phone to charge from 0 to 100 in just under 15 minutes. It is also being speculated that Xiaomi may tie-up with a big-name camera company to bolster the Mix 5's imaging capabilities.
That big company could be Leica, which may lend its imaging expertise to make good use of the rumored Sony IMX707 50 MP main camera. The 50 MP Sony IMX707 will be accompanied by a 48 MP 5x optical zoom lens, and a 50 MP ultra-wide sensor. We also expect the Mix 5 to leverage Xiaomi's new Surge C2 (?) ISP.
Other rumored specifications so far include a 6.73-inch 2K E5 AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 1,500 nits that also houses an under-display selfie camera and either a 5,000 mAh or 6,000 mAh battery. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Mi Mix 5 sometime in March 2022.
