An update by Weibo tipster @DCS offered new details about the state of OPPO's 150W charging technology for future smartphones. According to @DCS, smartphones that support 150W charging aren't too far out, and the company has already begun trial production of compatible 10A chargers.
This doesn't necessarily mean we'll see 150W charging technology implemented in Q1 2022 flagships like the Find X4 Pro. @DCS stated that "the first wave of new machines is still mostly 65W and 80W." This implies that we might only see 150W charging arrive in the following generation, meaning Fall 2022, or 2023 at earliest.
OPPO isn't the first out the door with ultra-fast charging technology, however. The Chinese variant of the Vivo iQOO 7 features support for 120W charging, and has been on the market since January 2021. Benchmarks indicate that the iQOO 7 can charge from 0-100 percent in under 20 minutes, five times faster than the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Further details about OPPO's150W tech are scarce on the ground, though we expect to hear more in the months to come. If the company's 150W devices deliver similar results to the iQOO 7, fast charging could be a compelling reason to pick up future OPPO flagships.
