Xiaomi's last pure Mix series smartphone was the Mix 4 that launched back in 2021. Since then, the company has only released its Mix Fold foldables, and that looks set to continue this year with a new leak calling the existence of any potential Mix 5 into question.

Xiaomi has a history of releasing its most experimental designs under the Mix series of premium smartphones. It appears, however, that the company will choose to not launch a new device under the Mix lineup this year—according to a new leak, at least.

As revealed by leaker Digital Chat Station, there will not be a Xiaomi Mix 5 this year. That would, of course, make it the third year without a Mix series smartphone, with the last release being the Mix 4 which debuted back in August 2021. The Mix 5 was initially tipped to launch in 2022 but was scrapped in favor of the Xiaomi 12s Ultra. If this leak is anything to go by, the Mix 4 may well end up being the last Mix series device.

Further supporting that idea is the fact that Digital Chat Station claims that, while a Mix 5 is not forthcoming, Xiaomi could be working on another "radical" device to "inherit the mantle" of the Mix series. That doesn't say much other than a device with an experimental design could launch sometime this year, although it remains to be seen whether there's still a demand for such devices, particularly with the existence of Xiaomi's Mix Fold line.
