Xiaomi's Mix series has typically played host to the company's most ambitious smartphones, with models in the lineup pushing the boundaries of Android smartphone design. Since releasing the Mix 4 back in 2021, however, Xiaomi pivoted towards the foldable branch of the series, but that now looks geared to change.
According to leaker Kartikey Singh, Xiaomi is slated to bring a new Mix smartphone to the market. This device is expected to be the Mix 5, a direct successor to the Mix 4, and will continue with the lineup's original goal of delivering full-screen devices.
Digital Chat Station says something to that effect as well, indicating that Xiaomi could have plans to launch a full-screen smartphone with an under-screen selfie camera. The leaker claims the technology has advanced over the past few years, and a mass-produced model with that feature is effectively certain to launch in the near future.
That should gladden the hearts of Xiaomi's Mix series fans. After all, the poor implementation of an under-display selfie camera on the Mix 4 may have ultimately led to the lineup being shelved. It's been four years since then, though, and it appears Xiaomi is finally ready for another attempt.
