The Mi A3 is one of Xiaomi's current devices that will receive the Android 11 update when it's finally released. Last week, it was revealed that Xiaomi was testing native call recording on the Android 11 builds of the Mi A3, Poco F2 Pro, and Mi A2 Lite, and it appears yet another feature will be included on the Android 11 update for the Mi A3.
According to word on the Mi Forums, the Mi A3 will get a native screen recording feature with the Android 11 update. This shouldn't come as a surprise to those who've kept up with the Android 11 beta scene, as native screen recording is a new feature on AOSP Android 11, with the Beta 2 build also introducing internal mic recording.
We recognize that this is a highly requested feature, however there are a number of privacy and security concerns that come along with providing APIs for this type of sensitive information. We have been working to determine if we can make these APIs available safely, and as some of you noticed, this capability was briefly available in an early Android 11 developer preview. Our intention is to continue investigating if we can safely implement this and we will update the Android community as this work progresses.
- Google Development Team on native call recording
There's a chance, however, that the previously touted call recording feature may be in doubt. The Android 11 development team has now clarified that native call recording may not be implemented in Android 11, citing privacy concerns. Of course, it's likely Xiaomi implements this feature independently anyway.
