Xiaomi Mi 9 added to the Paranoid Android Quartz 4 custom ROM list with support for the Mi A3 and Mi Mix 3 in the works
Although the Xiaomi Mi 9 is already officially supported with both Android 10 and MIUI 12 by the Chinese OEM, there will be plenty of smartphone firmware tinkerers who would prefer a custom ROM for the additional developer freedom. This is where custom ROM creators like Paranoid Android serve their purpose.
The Android 10-based Paranoid Android Quartz 10 Release 4 update has just been announced, and it has now been revealed that it is also available for the Xiaomi Mi 9. Owners can follow the link in the "sources" section of this article to download the required software if desired. New features for Quartz 10 Release 4 include swipe for face unlock and app lock.
This means the Xiaomi Mi 9 joins an already long list of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones supported by Paranoid Android Quartz 4; however, the devs haven’t forgotten about other devices currently not listed, such as the Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi Mix 3. These two smartphones should also get the custom ROM support eventually, with the Paranoid Android blog stating that they are “in work for future releases”.
