Android 11-based custom ROMs are coming thick and fast for Xiaomi and Redmi devices, and now a few more have been spotted thanks to PiunikaWeb. First up is the new Redmi Note 9S, which has a custom ROM available for download via the sources section listed below. This build is provided by StatiXOS4.0 and is reported as being in an alpha phase, so users should be wary of installing it as it is likely there will be plenty of bugs and glitches at this time.
Following this, Android 11 can be tasted on the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8T thanks to Vanilla AOSP 11.0 (once again, originally via XDA Developers). The name of the build certainly hints at a clean ROM with most features, such as boots, camera, fingerprint sensor, and notification LED listed as functioning. However, bugs have been reported, such as with the Wi-Fi Display, so be sure to keep a back-up of your data before taking Vanilla AOSP for a road test on your Redmi Note 8 smartphone.
Lastly, there’s even some support for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which was released in early 2018. LineageOS 18.0 gives Note 5 Pro owners the opportunity to see what Android 11 can deliver. Almost all of the expected functions are reported as working; however, there is an issue with the fingerprint sensor and SELinux (Security Enhanced Linux) runs in permissive mode. Make sure to double-check you are going to flash the correct ROM to your Redmi device before trying out these community-built options.
