First anniversaries are often celebrated in the hope of a bright future, but the 10th should be a time to look back on stability and consistency. And so my take is that the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra makes a fitting tribute to its maker’s 10th. Just don't mind its weight.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra holds a high position in our database for rear camera performance, but its front camera lands much further down the list. Selfie still image quality is largely unchanged from its slightly-lower-end sibling, the Mi 10 Pro: it delivers properly exposed, detailed photos under optimal conditions, but its dynamic range can’t touch the better competition and leads to frequent clipped highlights when challenged with wide brightness ranges. The portrait mode remains slightly disappointing.

A slightly dark display and problems with color rendering affect the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra’s overall display score, but its most serious problems are how it handles video content, with output that was sometimes too dark to be evaluated, and its mishandling of ghost touches. On the plus side, the Xiaomi shows very few frame drops and has good control of motion blur. Touch accuracy was mixed: good for gallery app use cases, but a little under par for gaming; overall touch smoothness was very good. Other high points were its control of aliasing and judder, but these may not be enough to overcome its deficits in readability, color, and especially video.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is currently the fastest phone with an AnTuTu benchmark score of 638,497. It beats the Asus ROG Phone 3, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro, Realme X50 Pro, and OnePlus 8 Pro. The phone gets quite warm during benchmark and gaming sessions. The good news is, there wasn't that much of a noticeable performance drop.

The IMX586 hardware specifications of the Mi 10 Extreme Edition telephoto end, except for the S20 Ultra with the same solution, are almost stronger than all periscope models among the models on the Qualcomm platform. This is also the reason why the Mi 10 Extreme Edition telephoto end can still output clearer images in the night environment when the night scene algorithm fails to cover the telephoto end.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the new number one in the DXOMARK Camera ranking and deservedly so. In Photo mode it doesn’t show any real weaknesses and delivers class-leading results in several categories. It’s particularly impressive in the wide and zoom sections, making it an ideal choice for those who want a zoom range as big as possible without compromising on image quality. It’s also a great tool for mobile videographers, offering excellent overall video quality with efficient stabilization at 4K and a fast 60fps frame rate that makes for super-smooth panning and motion. Overall, if it fits within your budget, the new Xiaomi flagship phone is an easy recommendation for mobile content creators.

Model:
The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the company’s flagship smartphone for this year. Overall, it assembles top mobile technologies in a device with an unmatched spec sheet. It is definitely all about the big numbers with this smartphone, as it sets new benchmarks for charging speeds in both wired and wireless form, along with sporting a solid camera system. In terms of its design, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra can be classified as a rather big smartphone in every dimension. On the front of the device, there is a full-size display with a punch hole on the top left and a speaker grille just above the glass. While the left side is left blank, the right side has the volume rocker and power button. Apart from that, the top of the smartphone houses an IR-blaster and two microphones. In contrast, there is a single USB Type-C port, a microphone, the main speaker, and a dual-SIM tray at the bottom of the device. There is also a large camera bump, which resides in the top left corner of the rear panel.
Overall, the device definitely feels smooth due to its rounded rear glass and side rails. Apart from that, the in-display fingerprint scanner is rather quick and accurate. The phone absolutely looks and feels as premium as it should. As far as the display is concerned, Xiaomi has opted for a Full-HD+, 120Hz OLED panel this time instead of a Quad HD+ screen. It should be noted that while the OnePlus 8 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 do offer higher resolution screens at this price point, they do not come with the same charging features as the Mi 10 Ultra. The panel is very smooth and fast, as well as vibrant with deep contrast. The brightness was also quite good, as the Mi 10 Ultra was easily viewable even in direct sunlight.
In terms of its performance, Xiaomi has opted for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 rather than the Snapdragon 865 Plus for the Mi 10 Ultra. Still, this smartphone is quite fast, even while playing games or multi-tasking. The GPU is the Adreno 650 GPU. As for the camera, the Mi 10 Ultra comes with a quad-camera setup that includes dual-tele cameras and an ultra-wide module. The device has been equipped with a 48MP main camera, two telephoto sensors with 12MP and 48MP respectively, and a 20MP ultra-wide sensor. There is also a multispectral colour temperature sensor. The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra definitely takes punchy and contrast-heavy images with a fair amount of dynamic range. However, there is not much change between all four rear sensors in terms of quality in good lighting. Overall, colours stay pretty consistent and are slightly oversaturated. As for the battery, the phone comes with a 4,500mAh battery with 120W charging. This device can be considered as one of the fastest-charging phones out there, as the battery is actually split into two and each half is charged simultaneously. Overall, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is a great phone to be explored, depending on the need and choice of the user.

Qualcomm Adreno 650: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 640 in the Snapdragon 855 SoC and offers 50% more compute units (ALUs). For Android it should be one of the fastest graphics cards in 2020.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 865: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in late 2019 and manufactured in 7 nm at TSMC (improved N7P). Integrates one “Prime Core” based on a ARM Cortex-A77 architecture clocked at up to 2.84 GHz. Three more performance cores are also based on the A77 but clock up to 2.42 GHz. Furthermore, four energy saving cores are integrated that are based on the ARM Cortex-A55 architecture and clock at up to 1.8 GHz. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 6 modem (including 60 GHz mmWave support), a Hexagon 698 DSP (up to 15 TOPS) and a Spectra 480 ISP. The integrated memory controller now supports faster LPDDR5 memory with up to 2,750 MHz. LTE is not included anymore in the SoC, but the external Snapdragon X55 5G modem has to be used.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

Xiaomi:
Xiaomi Tech was founded as a Chinese smartphone producer in 2010 and soon reached high market shares in its home market. Although Xiaomi is not one of the Top 5 smartphone manufacturers worldwide in 2016, it is nevertheless one of the big global players in this market segment.
Since 2015 there are many reviews. The ratings have been above average since 2016.
88.23%: This is a good rating above average. Nevertheless you should not forget, that 10-15% of all notebook-models get a better rating.
