XU Retro has only just released the XU20 V32 as a TrimUI Brick alternative (curr. $69.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, the company has now confirmed launch details regarding a slightly larger gaming handheld. Not to be confused with the XU35 H50 that is also coming soon, the XU35 H40 is about the same size as Anbernic's RG406H, thanks to its 4-inch display and horizontal layout.
In fact, the XU35 H40 contains a 960 x 720 and 4:3 touchscreen display just like the RG406H before it. Moreover, it features Hall effect controls to match Anbernic's 4-inch gaming handheld. With that being said, XU Retro has seemingly focused on d-pad positioning by pushing both joysticks to the handheld's bottom edge. As the image below shows, the XU35 H40 will be available for around $90, which vastly undercuts the RG406H.
To achieve this price tag, XU Retro has settled on the MediaTek Helio G85 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. According to our benchmarks, this chipset choice will put the XU35 H40 at a significant disadvantage when it comes to CPU-heavy tasks. Conversely, a much smaller gap exists when it comes to the pair's GPUs. At the time of writing, XU Retro hopes to release the XU35 H40 in December 2025, two months after the arrival of the larger XU35 H50.
