Retroid has been able to fix the compatibility issue that prevented its Dual Screen Add-on from working with the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro. The fix is already rolling out to users as an OTA update that also brings some new features.

Just a week after it announced that a compatibility issue had caused the Retroid Dual Screen Add-on from working with the Retroid Pocket 4 Pro, Retroid has now announced that it is rolling out an OTA update that fixes the issue.

Previously, Retroid had revealed to buyers that it would issue a refund while it works on a fix that might take months. Thankfully, the issue has now been resolved much faster than expected. The update arrives as version 1.0.0.167, and according to the changelog, the issue has been resolved with help from MediaTek field application engineers.

In addition to the fix, the update brings a new AOSP launcher that supports dual-screen multitasking. Retroid says it has also added volume control to the quick settings menu. This is a necessary addition considering the Retroid Dual Screen Add-On blocks the volume buttons when attached to some handhelds such as the Retroid Pocket 5 (available on Amazon for $259). Lastly, there's a new “Handheld Settings” menu where users can change the video output mode.

The Retroid Dual Screen Add-on is available to buy directly from Retroid for $69.00. The accessory adds a second screen to compatible handhelds, including those sold by other manufacturers.
