Ayaneo has been having a busy time of it lately. For context, the company released its long-awaited AM01S mini-PC last week and the Pocket DS gaming handheld a few weeks before that. Now, Ayaneo has clarified the state of its Code R or Code-R1 project, which it recently teased would feature a 4:3 display.
Apparently, the names Code R and Code-R1 were something of a misnomer. Despite referring to the gaming handheld as such over the summer, it will not launch under either name nor its new Konkr sub-brand. Instead, Ayaneo has decided to expand its Pocket division with the first Pocket Air in almost two years. Shared only on Chinese social media for now, the official teaser confirms that the Code R will actually reach consumers as the Pocket AIR Mini.
Having already revealed the inclusion of a 4:3 display, Ayaneo has showcased that the Pocket AIR Mini has joysticks positioned beneath its d-pad and ABXY buttons, unlike the Pocket Air before it. Ultimately, the Pocket AIR Mini looks like Ayaneo's answer to the Anbernic RG406H (curr. $199 on Amazon). Specifications for Ayaneo's new pocket-friendly gaming handheld remain unknown for the time being, though.
