AYN is getting ready to launch a flagship gaming handheld that runs on Android, the Odin 3. The company recently showcased the design of the device, and now, it has confirmed that there will be an "exclusive" feature, a custom bezel-less AMOLED screen.
The company mentions that the 6-inch panel will feature a 120 Hz refresh rate and an FHD resolution, which will be a big step up from the 60 Hz IPS panel that the Odin 2 has. Such an upgrade in terms of the refresh rate automatically demands a more powerful SoC than the predecessor, and AYN has confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite will power the gaming handheld.
So, as it stands at the moment, the AYN Odin 3 is the first Snapdragon 8 Elite gaming handheld, and if the Ayaneo Konkr Pocket Fit Elite comes with the same SoC, they would be direct competitors. In addition to the screen and chipset, the company revealed that the device will feature an 8,000 mAh battery, which is the same as the predecessor.
AYN's latest teaser has also shared that the flagship gaming handheld will sport full-size joysticks, weigh 390 grams, and have a relatively compact form factor. All of these would make Odin 3 a solid pick for those who are into Android gaming and emulations. Of course, the price would be another big deciding factor, and it's worth noting that the Odin 2 launched with a reasonably affordable tag (12/128 GB curr. $399 on Amazon). More details about the device are expected to emerge in the coming days.
