Update: The laptop is now even cheaper, courtesy of a sizeable 47% discount. The rest of the article remains unchanged.
The Lenovo ThinkPad lineup of laptops is arguably one of the best options out there for professional users, offering attractive features at equally premium prices. Thanks to an ongoing sale, the 16-inch ThinkPad P16s can now be purchased with a lucrative $1,220 discount, bringing its price down to just $1,339 when the "BUYMORELENOVO" coupon is utilized.
This specific variant of the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 is equipped with the potent AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro 350 APU, featuring 8 cores and 16 threads based on the Zen 5 architecture. In terms of raw CPU performance, the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 350 trades blows with the Ryzen 7 8845HS APU, which indicates that the APU should be more than enough for the majority of CPU-intensive workloads. The lack of a discrete GPU puts pressure on the Radeon 860M iGPU, which is decent, but obviously cannot keep up with discrete GPUs.
Of course, one of the primary selling points for the ThinkPad P16s Gen 4 laptop is its gorgeous 4K OLED display with a claimed 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Support for Dolby Vision is present, and the brightness maxes out at a claimed 400 nits. This variant of the P16s laptop ships with 64 GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 1 TB SSD.
A version with the more powerful Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 APU is also on offer, available at $1,329. This variant, however, ships with half the memory and a FHD IPS display. The Radeon 890M iGPU in this SKU is undoubtedly much more powerful, which means that prospective buyers should weigh their requirements carefully. In simpler terms, this variant offers roughly 20% and 30% faster CPU and GPU performance, but ships with an inferior display and half the memory for roughly the same price.
Clearly, both the laptops in question have their strengths, although it can be said that working on a 16-inch 1200p display will result in a sub-par productivity experience, since people generally sit pretty close to laptop screens. All told, at their current sale prices, both the variants for the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s sport price tags that are much easier to digest than their usual.
