XU Retro has now released its alternative to the TrimUI Brick. Available in a choice of four translucent colour options, the XU Retro XU20 V32 is a budget gaming handheld that runs Android instead of Linux. The XU20 V32 should be comparatively powerful for its launch price, thanks to its Allwinner A133P chipset and 2 GB of RAM.

XU Retro has opened orders for the first 600 units of the XU20 V32 after its announcement of the same device a few weeks ago. Positioned as a direct rival to the TrimUI Brick (curr. $69.99 on Amazon), the XU20 v32 swaps a Linux-based operating system for Android 10.

Theoretically, this expands the latter's game library compared to the former. However, Android 10 is old enough to have become unsupported with some applications. At any rate, the XU20 V32 combines a 3.2-inch IPS display that outputs at 1,024 x 768 pixels with an Allwinner A133P chipset found across several rival gaming handhelds.

Moreover, XU Retro has included a 3,200 mAh battery, 2 GB of DDR4 RAM and a microSD card reader within a 112 x 83 x 24 mm housing that weighs 160 g. On top of that, the XU20 V32 supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, unlike some budget Linux-based retro gaming handhelds. Currently, the XU20 V32 starts at $48 before shipping in Black, Blue, Green and Purple colour options. Please see XU Retro's website for more details.
