Ayaneo has just released the Pocket DS while also revealing release details for the Konkr Pocket Fit and Pocket Fit Elite to rival popular horizontal Android gaming handhelds like the AYN Odin2 (curr. $379 on Amazon). Now, it has returned to the Code R-1, which still remains somewhat of a mysterious device.
For context, Ayaneo first teased almost a month ago during its recent 2025-2026 Strategy Sharing Session. As the embedded screenshots below from that event show, Ayaneo initially positioned the Code R-1 as an 'affordable' yet 'refined', adding:
As the very first product of Ayaneo's brand-new entry-level lineup, [the Code R-1] still upholds high standards - no compromises for beginners. Leading the class comprehensively in design, performance and system experience.
Seemingly, the Code R-1 will be the next device that Ayaneo unveils, too. In a recent X post, the company boasts that the device represents a 'new era' for retro gaming handhelds. Unfortunately, it still remains unclear exactly what the Code R-1 looks like. Instead, we only have Ayaneo's prior images to go by, which reveal little about what shape the device could take. Nonetheless, we suspect that Ayaneo will reveal more details about the Code R sooner rather than later, given its past performance.
