File transfers are almost an order of magnitude faster on the new GE76 when compared to the older GE75. If you rely on SD cards for your daily workloads, then you may want to skip the GE75 or GE65.

Although most manufacturers offer separate laptop models for content creators and gamers, it's not uncommon for many content creators to purchase gaming laptops since they are often more powerful. The 2019 to 2020 gaming-centric MSI GE75, for example, would come with both Core i9 and GeForce RTX 2080 options to be one of the fastest mid-size "creator" laptops available.

An often overlooked drawback to the GE75 was its slow integrated SD card reader. Moving 1 GB of pictures from a UHS-II SD card to desktop would take about 50 seconds because of the limited ~30 MB/s transfer rate. For the redesigned 2021 GE76, MSI has upped the transfer rate significantly to 200 MB/s for an almost 7x speed increase. Moving the same 1 GB set of pictures on the GE76 would take just under 6 seconds for an immense gen-to-gen improvement.

Most gamers in the market for a GE75 or GE76 will likely feel nonchalant about the faster card reader, but content creators, editors, and videographers will find this to be a blessing since the vast majority of DSLR cameras rely on SD cards. No one wants to wait a whole hour just to transfer RAW files in need of editing.
