Reviews for the MSI GE76 Raider 10UH
After two years with the same GE75 design, MSI is ready to move forward with a full frontal redesign of the series. The result is a system that is heavier than its predecessor but for all the right reasons.

Performance, endurance and RGB lighting, the MSI GE76 Raider gives me everything I love about a gaming laptop. Armed with a Core i7 processor and Nvidia’s monstrous RTX 3080 GPU, the laptop’s power cannot be denied. And depending on what mode you’re using, the Raider’s battery can go the distance. On top of that, it’s got excellent audio, blistering-fast transfer speeds, and is one of the first gaming laptops to feature Wi-Fi 6.

This top-configuration of the MSI GE76 Raider is the fastest gaming laptop we've tested so far and one of the fastest currently available on the market. Having a 155W 3080 and i9 inside is what's driving the performance, paired with an alright thermal solution, a MUX switch, and a fast display. Throw in the premium design and craftsmanship, good inputs and IO, and the big battery, and this looks like a hard-to-match performance laptop. The devil is in the details, though, and as you'll find out in this review, there are some aspects that you need to carefully consider before jumping on this one.

The MSI GE76 Raider is powerful, packed with the best laptop hardware you can get right now. However, it’s extremely expensive, and it’s heavy enough that you’re not going to want to commute with it.

We’ve now seen three laptops with Nvidia’s mobile GeForce RTX 3080, and each offers their own distinctive personalities. Gigabyte’s Aorus 17 features a slightly faster CPU performance but much slower graphics performance, thanks to its lower-wattage GPU. To make up for that, the laptop is drop-dead silent for a gaming laptop, with the sound level barely breaking 38 dBA. The Asus ROG Flow X13 with its eGPU offers that wickedly fast Ryzen 5000 CPU and the RTX 3080, but its eGPU makes it far more cumbersome when you want to game.

We test the RTX 3080 16GB model with one of the highest watt mobile GPUs on the market at 155 watts. The 27.4mm thick laptop has an aluminum lid and keyboard deck and weighs 6.4 lb. / 2.9 kg. Ours has a fast refresh 300Hz full HD IPS display and there’s a 4K option for creators. It’s currently available with Intel 10th gen H series 45 watt CPUs, and we test the 8-core i7 model. Other features include Wi-Fi 6E, a per key SteelSeries RGB keyboard with “Mystic” light bar on the front edge, a more chill titanium blue chassis and a wide selection of ports. And yes, it can play Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra with Ray Tracing maxed!

The MSI GE76 Raider is a powerful big-screen gaming laptop with all the advanced features you could want, but it's bulky by modern standards, and its mid-level configurations are better values than our top-end test unit.

17.30": This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.
3.027 kg:
A laptop with this weight is comparatively heavy and less designed for mobility than for use at the desk. Therefore, the devices tend to shine less with battery life than with a large screen and higher performance.
