The GE76 Raider is, objectively, the definition of top-of-the-line, eschewing portability and battery life to deliver raw, uncompromising power for a very particular niche. You’d be hard pressed to find more performance in a package you can technically take with you, and when paired with a monitor this machine is a desktop replacement that truly lives up to the name.

Archive.org versionThe MSI GE76 Raider isn't the ultimate 17.3-inch esports laptop it sets out to be. Its admirable qualities—quiet cooling fans, a fast PCI Express Gen 4 SSD, good connectivity, decent speakers, and a sharp 1080p webcam—are outweighed by larger issues. Our review unit's Core i9 HK-series CPU and GeForce RTX 3080 didn't perform as well as expected in our esports testing, which is hard to accept given this laptop's size. Its dim screen is perhaps the biggest letdown. The Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 and Alienware x17 are both better 17.3-inch options, and the 16-inch Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 6 can outrun them both.

Archive.org versionThe MSI GE76 Raider is an excellent gaming laptop. It’s big and heavy, but it’s also excellent for gaming and content creation. It delivers top-tier performance in nearly all types of games even with ray tracing enabled, has enough gusto to stream to Twitch, and won’t break a sweat handling a large edit in Adobe Premiere Pro. It features enough connectivity to replace a desktop in space-constrained scenarios and will look good doing it thanks to its metal chassis and eye-catching RGB. In sheer horsepower, this PC is a winner. Still, the MSI GE76 remains a killer gaming laptop—if you can afford it and live with its few challenges. It’s fast enough to handle modern games and has a speedy screen for high-intensity esports. If you’re looking for top-of-the-line gaming in a package you can take anywhere, and don’t mind paying for the privilege, this is a laptop well worth considering.

Archive.org versionAll told, the MSI GE76 Raider is a pleasing gaming laptop with plenty to offer. It's powerful, portable and plentiful in terms of the fun and thrills it delivers. Obviously, all that power comes at a price, but it's well worth the expense in our mind.

Archive.org versionWe’ve already tested out a bunch of laptops which have the Intel Core i7-11800H and the temperature readout has been surprisingly good, however the Intel Core i9-11980HK transcends to the lofty figures north of 95C. While this 11980HK does offer the ability to overclock, the high temperatures will severely limit the overclocking potential. The pricing for such a high-end gaming laptop shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. GE76 Raider can be purchased for: GBP £4200 USD $4000 | AUD $8000. Even though we fully expected a big price-tag, we didn’t expect it to come in at such a figure. This laptop should also arrive with a 2 year warranty in most regions.

Archive.org versionLisa Gade reviews the mid-2021 MSI GE76 Raider 11UH 17.3” gaming laptop with Intel 11th gen Tiger Lake H45 CPUs inside. We review the top of the line Core i9-11980HK overclockable model with a 165 watt NVIDIA RTX 3080 16GB GPU and a 360Hz full HD display. It’s also available with an Intel Core i7-11800H processor, and RTX 3060 and 3070 graphics. The laptop has a per key RGB SteelSeries keyboard, front Mystic LED light bar and quad stereo speakers. The PC has Thunderbolt 4, PCIe 4.0 for a potential dedicated graphics boost and faster SSDs. This may be the fastest gaming laptop in 2021, and it competes with the Alienware X17 and Asus ROG Strix Scar 17. For those who this as a 15.6” laptop, there’s the GE66 Raider.
