MSI Optix MAG272CQP: A 27-inch curved gaming monitor with a 165 Hz refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium support
MSI has released yet another gaming monitor, this time the Optix MAG272CQP. According to the manufacturer, the Optix MAG272CQP is a 27-inch monitor that operates natively at WQHD (2,560 x 1,440) and up to a 165 Hz refresh rate. The VA panel has a 1500R curvature and supports VESA 100x100 brackets.
Additionally, MSI asserts that the Optix MAG272CQP has a 1 ms response time (MPRT), 178° horizontal/vertical viewing angles and a 300 nit peak brightness. The display supposedly has a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and supports FreeSync Premium, for reference. The Optix MAG272CQP can reproduce content at up to 165 Hz over its dual HDMI 2.0 ports or its single DisplayPort 1.2 connection, too.
It is unclear if the Optix MAG272CQP can run at 165 Hz via its USB Type-C port, even though it supports DisplayPort Alternate. Incidentally, the monitor also possesses two USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A ports and one USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-B.
Unfortunately, MSI is yet to reveal how much the Optix MAG272CQP costs, nor where it plans to release it. However, the company already sells the Optix MAG272CQR for US$399.99, which appears to be the Optix MAG272CQP but with RGB lighting on the back. Hence, we expect MSI to launch the Optix MAG272CQP for around US$399.99.
