Sony has just revealed the Xperia 1 VII globally. However, the company is not done with new product releases yet this week. Instead, it hinted that it has another new product announcement scheduled for May 15, which it will officially unveil at 16:00 UTC. As we discussed last week, Sony's initial teaser suggested that it had a fresh pair of over-ear headphones waiting in the wings.
Now, the company's Japanese has offered an even clearer hint about what it has in store for May 15. Embedded above, the teaser outlines that 'Chapter 6' will begin for its headphone division in two days' time. If that was not enough, Sony adds that it has developed 'Chapter 6' as a 'new sound beginning' in 'co-creation with sound engineers'.
Based on recent leaks, the WH-1000XM6 will succeed the WH-1000XM5 (curr. $348 on Amazon) with a return to a foldable design, a revised carry case and Sony's QN3 audio processor. The long-awaited pair of over-ear wireless headphones should also support a 10-band equaliser this time around, as well as 360-degree up mixing and 12 microphones for improved active noise cancellation (ANC). Currently, the WH-1000XM6 is expected to launch for $449.99 in the US, £399.99 in the UK and between €449.99 and €469.99 across the Eurozone.
