Vivo's Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra rival could soon reach global markets

The Chinese variant of the Vivo X Fold 6 was launched back in June, and we actually did a review of it. And it seems the company is gearing up to bring its Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra rival to the global market soon. Following its initial domestic debut, international rollout plans are firmly in motion, giving foldable enthusiasts outside of China a massive new flagship to look forward to.

According to renowned leaker Roland Quandt on Bluesky, Vivo is gearing up to release the X Fold 6 in Europe shortly, with the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage configuration expected to cost €2,199 (around $2,550) in the region.

The international model will still retain the same raw power as its Chinese counterpart, featuring the custom MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super processor, a 200MP Zeiss-tuned primary camera, and an industry-leading 7,000mAh battery. However, while the Chinese edition shipped with Android 16, early listings suggest the global model will launch with Android 17 out of the box.

But how will the global retail version actually compare to the Chinese model from a usability standpoint? Well, from our analysis, the Chinese version had a few notable connectivity and software hurdles that the global version should ideally fix. The domestic model notably lacks eSIM support and omits the 6GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. The global version is expected to enable full Wi-Fi capabilities and introduce eSIM functionality, which remains crucial for frequent travelers utilizing local premium networks.

Software integration will serve as the most significant differentiator. The global Vivo X Fold 6 will most likely offer deep, native integration of Google services and Gemini AI, replacing the regional alternatives found on the Chinese ROM.

Furthermore, international buyers will likely benefit from Vivo's software lifecycle promise, which is expected to include 5 years of major OS updates and 7 years of security patches. This commitment still falls a little short of what Samsung promises, which is 7 years of major Android OS upgrades, One UI feature updates, and security patches.
