Vivo unveils waterproof phone with massive 10,000 mAh battery for the equivalent of $349
The Vivo V50 Lite 5G is finally getting a successor that boasts a battery nearly twice as large. That’s because Vivo has equipped it with a massive 10,000 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C at up to 44 watts. This battery is said to enable 30 hours of TikTok video streaming and 14 hours of gaming.
According to Vivo, the battery retains 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,400 charge cycles. Despite its massive battery, the Vivo V80 Lite 5G isn’t excessively thick or heavy, with a thickness of 8.59 millimeters and a weight of 224 grams. The case is IP69-certified and therefore waterproof. Vivo claims the smartphone can survive a drop from a height of three meters – at least onto carpet.
This mid-range smartphone features a 6.83-inch, 120 Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,800 × 1,260 pixels and a peak brightness of 2,000 nits. The fingerprint sensor is invisibly integrated into the display, and the 32 MP f/2.0 selfie camera is housed in a centered punch-hole. The Vivo V80 Lite 5G features a 50 MP f/1.8 main camera, accompanied only by a 2 MP sensor. A MediaTek Dimensity 7300e, a dual-SIM slot, NFC, and GPS round out the features.
Pricing and availability
The Vivo V80 Lite 5G will first launch in Myanmar, where the mid-range smartphone with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage is priced at RM 1,399 RM ($349), with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage, the device costs RM 1,899 ($469). Details regarding the international launch have not yet been announced.
