Huawei unveils Nova 16s Pro with 200 MP camera and 7,000 mAh battery in colorful body
Huawei announced the Nova 16s Pro today, which is the global version of the Huawei Nova 16 Pro already available in China. This high-end smartphone features a back panel with an eye-catching pattern, at least one variant comes in a gradient color scheme.
The camera module is also unusual, as Huawei has placed two circles in a rectangular module in the style of the iPhone 17 Pro ($1,170 on Amazon). This camera module houses a 200-megapixel f/1.8 main camera with an RYYB sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50 MP f/2.6 periscope telephoto camera with 3.7x optical zoom and optical image stabilization (OIS). A 1.5 MP multispectral sensor is designed to ensure natural colors even in challenging lighting conditions.
The selfie camera also features a 50 MP sensor. The Huawei Nova 16s Pro uses a 6.84-inch LTPO AMOLED panel that achieves a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak HDR brightness of 6,000 nits (1% APL), for typical HDR videos, 4,000 nits (20% APL) is reportedly possible. Although the Nova 16s Pro is very thin at 7.1 millimeters, Huawei has managed to include a 7,000 mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C at up to 100 watts.
The phone is based on a HiSilicon Kirin 9010S ARM chip. Surprisingly for a modern premium smartphone, the device is only IP65-certified, meaning the Nova 16s Pro should withstand rain but not submersion in water. The Huawei Nova 16s Pro is expected to launch soon in several countries, but Huawei has not yet confirmed any specific details regarding price or availability.
