New OnePlus 16 leak once again points to major camera upgrade

The OnePlus 16 is set to be one of the first flagship phones powered by the upcoming top-end Qualcomm SoC, which is rumored to be called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 6 Pro. While it's still unclear whether the phone will be widely available in markets outside China, leaks about the device are still rolling in.

One of the latest reports comes from Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo tipster. The leaker has once again shared the camera setup of the phone, and this time, it's said to be the "final" configuration.

To look back, earlier in July 2026, Digital Chat Station reported that the OnePlus 16 would come with a 200MP primary camera, which was said to be a 1/1.4-inch sensor. The leaker added that the main camera would be paired with a 3.5x "small-sensor" periscope, and a 50MP "small-sensor" ultrawide.

In the latest report, Digital Chat Station states that the "final" configuration has a 200MP 1/1.4-inch primary camera, which remains the same as the last report. However, it seems OnePlus has moved to a 3x periscope camera, reportedly a 1/1.95-inch 50MP Sony sensor.

Digital Chat Station added that the final configuration has a "brand-new" 50MP ultra-wide, but the leaker didn't share anything specific on the sensor. Another piece of new information on the new report is that the OnePlus 16 will reportedly feature a 50MP front-facing camera, which would stand as an upgrade over the predecessor (16/512GB curr. $907.81 on TradingShenzhen).

As for the other reported cameras in the latest report, they also point to the OnePlus 16 seeing a notable upgrade over its predecessor. Digital Chat Station hints that the hardware will be paired with a "flagship" algorithm, which could make the upcoming phone stand as a solid camera phone.
