Hypershell has unveiled the Halo full‑leg exoskeleton, offering a 12‑mile (20 km) range with 1,490W of peak power. The exoskeleton delivers adaptive walking assistance through HyperIntuition AI motion-control and a lightweight carbon fiber and titanium frame.

Hypershell has unveiled the Halo full-leg exoskeleton, the company's latest leg exoskeleton model designed to assist wearers while walking, hiking, and moving across varied terrains. The exoskeleton uses a four‑motor assistance system, an ultralight carbon fiber‑and‑titanium frame, and the company’s HyperIntuition 2.0 motion‑prediction algorithm to deliver real‑time boost to the legs.

The Halo’s four‑motor HyperDrive Pro system delivers up to 1,490 W peak output while the HyperIntuition 2.0 AI algorithm predicts movement with a 0.2‑second response time, according to the company. The system is trained on over 10,000 hours of motion data to adapt to both intent and terrain to help provide assistance with reduced physical exertion. Unlike exoskeletons that only drive the hip joint or knee joint, the Hypershell Halo drives both. Its attachment to the upper and lower legs also allows it to redirect stresses around the knee to reduce knee joint stress.

According to the company, the Halo can reduce muscle fatigue by up to 40% when standing from a sitting position during controlled tests. Also, it was able to reduce physical exertion by 39% and heart rate by 42% during lab bicycling tests.

Halo also includes the Shelly AI assistant for voice‑controlled adjustments and route planning that can run off a smartwatch. The specifications do not state whether Shelly operates in areas without Internet or Wi-Fi.

Although the exoskeleton uses carbon fiber and titanium in its body, it weighs 3.2 kg (7.05 lbs.), which is heavier than an upper leg-only or knee-only exoskeleton. It is IP54‑rated for dust and water resistance, and when folded for storage, takes up 8 L of space, portable enough to fit in a backpack .

The Halo is powered by a 72 Wh battery, with a rated range of up to 20 km of assisted walking in Eco Mode. The battery can be fast charged in 1.5 hours. The battery powers the motors as well as customizable light markers.

The Hypershell Halo can be pre-ordered from the company website for $2,299, with orders shipping starting in November 2027. The company's more affordable exoskeletons are available today from the Hypershell store on Amazon.

Leg exoskeletons, whether the Hypershell Halo, Dnsys X1 (which Notebookcheck reviewed here), or a similar model, do not have a complete sense of the wearer's foot grip, body balance, and external environment, and when coupled with the unavoidable lag between machine processing of sensor inputs and power delivery, there can be situations where unexpected over- or under-delivery of powered assistance can cause slips and falls, so users should take extra caution when moving over unstable or slippery terrain.
