The Vivo X series has been available in some European countries for years, but the Zeiss camera flagships have remained a hidden gem for a relatively small fan base until now. Apple and Samsung are simply too dominant on the European smartphone market and Vivo's marketing efforts too limited. This is set to change with the Vivo X300 series this year, as the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro have now officially arrived in Austria for the first time, just a few weeks after their launch in China, and were showcased to the public today at a major launch event in Vienna's Hofburg Palace.
We've already filmed a hands-on video with the new Zeiss camera flagship and gathered a lot of official launch information, but we also had the opportunity to spend the last few hours before the launch strolling through Austria's beautiful capital city with the new pocket-sized Zeiss camera, capturing some fantastic shots. One such spot was the former Stadtpark light rail station, now part of the U4 subway line, designed by Otto Wagner. The Ferris wheel in the Vienna Prater and the Votive Church were also on the sightseeing program, the latter at night and with admission to the "Light of Creation" show.

Have you ever seen Vienna at night?
In keeping with the theme of Reinhard Fendrich's famous song, the Vivo X300 Pro was also used at night, both in the Prater amusement park and at the Light of Creation show in Vienna's Votive Church. We were also able to capture a beautiful sunset using different focal lengths on the Vivo X300 Pro.

Telephoto extender at the city park
Equipped with a camera kit and Zeiss telephoto extender, which turns the 85mm APO telephoto lens into a 200mm telephoto lens and is available for as little as €200 (for Austria, Germany and Switzerland only) as an addition to the Vivo X300 Pro thanks to a launch discount, we also took some high-quality zoom shots at 10x or greater. You can see the results below. Unlike Oppo's kit, Vivo's telephoto kit has the advantage that the lens mount does not necessarily have to be removed when switching between the main camera and the ultra-wide-angle lens – something we found rather disappointing during our Oppo Find X9 Pro camera review.
