M-Kopa, a subsidiary brand of HMD Global, has just introduced the X30, a mid-range smartphone that aims to impress with its modern design, featuring a flat frame and large, rectangular camera module in the style of the iPhone 17 Pro. The M-Kopa X30 has a 50 MP selfie camera, a 50 MP main camera, and an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle camera.
The cameras can be controlled by gestures, either with a preset facial expression or a hand gesture. The M-Kopa X30's housing is only IP52 certified and so only protected against light water splashes. The smartphone has a 6.72-inch display with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh and can be charged via USB-C with up to 10 watts; wireless charging is not possible.
Inside is a Unisoc Tiger T615, a 12 nm ARM chip powered by two ARM Cortex-A75 performance cores with boost clock speeds of up to 1.8 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. It also has 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card. An NFC chip, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a fingerprint sensor in the lock button, a dual SIM slot, and Android 15 round off the features of the M-Kopa X30.
Price and availability
The HMD Global M-Kopa X30 will initially launch in Africa; details on an international launch are still pending. More information about the mid-range smartphone can be found on the HMD Global website.
