Approximately one year after the launch of the OAE1, Grell is launching the new OAE2. Available for €499, Grell promises that its new open-back headphones will deliver "sound in its purest form", i.e., "unadulterated, detailed and emotional". This makes them the perfect solution not only for studio production, but also for audio enjoyment at home when listening to music or gaming.
The OAE2 utilizes front-facing sound field modulation (FSFM). Unlike conventional headphones, the sound waves reach the ear at an angle from the front. This is intended to allow the sound to interact optimally with the individual shape of the ear, delivering finely resolved highs, clean mids and a palpable bass.
Grell has incorporated customer feedback from the OAE1 into the development of the OAE2. Accordingly, the headband and padding made of breathable velour and memory foam offer a better fit for longer wearing comfort. The extension mechanism has also been lengthened to allow for greater adjustment to different head shapes. In addition, the frequency response has been fine-tuned for even more precise and balanced sound.
The wired Grell OAE2 comes with two high-quality, silver-plated OFC cables with 3.5 mm plugs (including 6.3 mm adapters) and 4.4 mm plugs for fully balanced operation. Thanks to its modular design, all components can be replaceable, ensuring longevity.
Details on global availability are still pending, as Grell appears to have plans for an international launch.
