HEDD (Heinz Electrodynamic Design) has unveiled the open-back Heddphone D1 reference headphones designed for accurate monitoring during music production and recording.
The Heddphone D1 utilizes thin-ply carbon diaphragms (TPCDs) with technology provided by Composite Sound, which provides higher stiffness than traditional materials and a tuned audio response. This gives the drivers a frequency response of 5 Hz to 40 kHz, with high clarity and fast transient reproduction, according to the company. The headphones have an impedance of 32 ohms and a maximum SPL of 100 dB at 1 mW.
The open-back design creates a more spacious, open soundstage, while the perforated velour earpads provide hours of comfortable wear, says HEDD. The headphones come with a case and two Y-cables with dual 3.5 mm (1/8-inch) mono connectors. A 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) adapter is also included. The headphones weigh 350 g (12.3 oz.).
The Heddphone D1 reference headphones are handmade in Berlin and come with a five-year warranty. They have an MSRP of $799/€699 and are available from authorized dealers.
