Aiaiai has announced the TMA-2 Studio Wireless—ultra-low latency, over-ear headphones for music mastering and production.
The 227 g (8 oz.) headphones use 40 mm drivers with a frequency response of 10 Hz to 40 kHz, with a sensitivity of 97 dB at 1 mW and an impedance of 32 ohms. The equalization can be adjusted on-device using the AIAIAI app.
The headphones support sub-10 ms wireless connections to audio sources using the included W+ Link adapter, which supports 48 kHz 24-bit audio transmissions at 320 kbps. The transmitter accepts mini-jack line in and USB-C audio inputs and has a 10 m (33 ft.) range.
It also supports Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connections with a latency of 250 ms. Users who don't want any latency can connect the TMA-2 headphones to audio sources using the 1.5 m (4.9 ft.) 3.5 mm (1/8 in.) cable. A 3.5 mm (1/8 in.) to 6.35 mm (1/4 in.) adapter is included.
The battery has a runtime of 20 hours when using W+ Link wireless connections and 40 hours when using Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connections. The battery recharges in two hours.
Both the headband and ear pads use memory foam for comfort. Every part can be swapped out for repairs, including replacing polyurethane ear pads for optional Alcantara ear pads.
The TMA-2 Studio Wireless comes with a lifetime license for the Ableton Live Lite digital audio workstation (DAW) software. The software enables musicians to record, edit, and perform songs.
Aiaiai will begin shipping the TMA-2 Studio Wireless headphones on June 26 for an MSRP of $300 (check the Aiaiai store on Amazon for stock).
