Ollo Audio has extended its lineup of headphones with the R1 closed-back, over-ear studio headphones designed for music recording.
The key characteristic allowing the R1 to be used in studio recordings is its well-isolated design that reduces sound leakage by up to 10 dB SPL, which prevents backing tracks played for the musician from contaminating the live recording. At the same time, to give singers the feeling of being in a lively performance to enable them to perform at their best, the audio tuning of the studio headphones is U-shaped, emphasizing the bass and treble, according to Ollo Audio.
The American walnut earcups enclose 50 mm drivers capable of reproducing audio frequencies from 5 Hz to 22 kHz with a THD of less than 0.12% at 94 dB SPL. The drivers have a maximum SPL of 110 dB at 32 ohms.
A detachable 2.0 meter (6.6 ft) Y-cable connects to the earcups and has a mini XLR connector on the other end. All parts are designed to be user-replaceable. The headphones weigh 386 grams (0.8 lb.).
The $449 R1 is available for pre-order at the company website for delivery beginning mid-January 2026. Readers looking for headphones to mix tracks with might consider the Ollo Audio X1 mixing headphones (sold on Amazon).
