The Loewe Leo are positioned as flagship headphones with a list price of €1,299. In order to justify this price, the manufacturer advertises a high-quality build made mostly of aluminum and genuine leather. The earpads and headband can be replaced by the user when they are worn out after many years of use.
However, Loewe does not provide any information on whether the battery is replaceable, which is a shame, as the battery often limits the lifespan of Bluetooth headphones more than other components. That said, the Loewe Leo support active noise cancellation (ANC) along with a transparency mode as well as an AI voice assistant that can translate in real time. However, a subscription is required for this particular feature after a one-year trial period. After that, it costs €7.99 per month.
Loewe relies on comparatively large OCE membrane drivers with a diameter of 50mm, a Texas Instruments amplifier and a modern Bluetooth chip that supports Bluetooth Multipoint as well as the high-quality LC3+ codec. Music can be transmitted wirelessly at up to 24-bit at 96 kHz, although it is compressed to 500 kbit/s per channel. Furthermore, the sound can be adjusted to the user's preferences via an equalizer in the corresponding smartphone app. The battery is said to achieve a remarkable runtime of 65 hours.
Price and availability
The Loewe Leo over-ear headphones are now available for €1,299 at the manufacturer's European online store. This puts Loewe in direct competition with some of the highest-quality Bluetooth headphones on the market, such as the B&O Beoplay H100.
