Campfire Audio released its first headphones back in 2015, just one year later the first version of the Andromeda hit the market, which are now being refreshed for the 10th anniversary. The Campfire Audio Andromeda 10 sticks to the classic green color, but the manufacturer has modernized the design with sharper edges and has retired the visible screws of the original model.
While these earbuds are made of aluminum, Campfire Audio is offering two limited editions that are actually made of PVD-coated stainless steel, and are optionally finished with a black or gold Damascus cover. While the original Andromeda were equipped with "only" five drivers, the Andromeda 10 receives ten balanced armature drivers to match the tenth anniversary.
This includes four low-frequency drivers, four mid-frequency drivers and two high-frequency drivers. According to Campfire Audio, this setup improves performance without losing the characteristic sound of the original Andromeda. Even the copper strands of the cable are gold-plated to match the finish of this special edition. Campfire Audio further specifies an impedance of 8.5 ohms at 1kHz, a sensitivity of 94dB at 12.1mV, a total harmonic distortion of less than 1% and a frequency response of 5Hz to 20kHz.
Price and availability
The Campfire Audio Andromeda 10 retail for $1,699 in the US, but the gold or black special edition is priced at $2,499. Details on a global launch are still pending. More information should be available soon on Campfire Audio’s official website.
