Vivo has made its mid-range V series of smartphones into a reduced barrier to entry for the Zeiss branding and tuning typically reserved for its X-series flagships worldwide. Now, the line's latest generation seems ready to join its predecessors in countries such as India soon.
Being certified by Thailand's NBTC is often a precursor to such an event, and the Vivo V2427 has reportedly passed this hurdle on its way to its international debut.
It is also overtly referred to as the "V50" in this new leak, which seems an equally good sign that it will join its Aura Light ring flash-equipped forebear on Amazon.in soon.
The 2 devices are projected to launch with the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC, although the V50 is thought to get an updated 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with an improved 5,000-nit peak brightness. The V50 might also benefit from the S20's upgraded 6,500mAh battery, which is 1,000mAh more rated capacity than that of the V40.
Those predictions are admittedly based on the assumption that the V50 will emerge as the international re-brand of the S20 - on that note, should they prove accurate, it will actually lose the dual 50MP rear cameras of the V40 (or global S19) for a 50+8MP set-up.
The V50 is also now tipped to launch with a Deep Blue colorway in place of the S20's Gold Phoenix Feather option in addition to Shimmery White and Gray alternatives. All 3 SKUs are on show in the V50's latest leaks, although they give no hint as to the V50's launch date thus far.
