The Borrego+ is the new electric bike from Trek, which comes with a 750 W Hyena rear-hub motor. The fat-tire electric bike boasts a large 720 Wh battery, allowing riders to ride up to 70 miles (112.6 km) on a single charge. Plus, the e-bike supports a companion app for motor tuning, ride tracking, bike lock functions, and more.

Trek has unveiled a new fat-tire electric bike, the Borrego+, in the global market. The company has used the same aluminum alloy frame for the Borrego+ found in last year’s throttle-equipped Electra Townie Go and FX+1. However, the only difference is that Trek has paired the sturdy aluminum frame with chunky 26 x 4” Bontrager tires.

Speaking of powered things, the e-bike is powered by a 750 W Hyena rear-hub motor, delivering 90 Nm of torque. A 720 Wh battery runs the entire bike, and according to the brand, it offers 70 miles (112.6 km) of range on a single charge. As for speed, you can either choose from class 1 and 2 versions with a 20 mph (32.1 km/h) top speed or the class 3 S model that offers a throttle up to 20 mph (32.1 km/h) and 28 mph (45 km/h) with pedal assist.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t support range extenders. On the positive side, the smart e-bike features an 8-speed Shimano Acera drivetrain, an 80 mm coil suspension fork, a suspension seatpost, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, an SP Connect stem mount, a 60 lb-rated MIK cargo rack, and integrated lights and turn signals.

The 8-speed e-bike weighs 39.46 kg (87 lbs) and is capable of handling a maximum weight of 440 lbs (199 kg). You also get Trek Central app support, which further allows riders to tweak e-bike’s settings such as motor tuning, bike lock functions, range estimates, and ride tracking. One thing that misses out here is the EZ Mag magnetic charger system. Though, the Electra Townie Go and the FX+1 throttle bikes do offer this feature.

Available in three different sizes, including S, M, and L, the Borrego+ is priced at $2,499.99. Interested buyers can now purchase the e-bike directly from Trek’s official website.
