The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 could be cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold3 as Samsung targets massive foldables sales
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4 as its two foldable offerings for the year. The company looks to be projecting massive sales as well, and that could come with a key decision.
According to supply chain insider Ross Young, production numbers for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 are over double what they were for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3. This isn't novel either, as information on display shipments for the Galaxy Z Flip4 already touted a 70% rise. Both foldables thoroughly dominated the segment last year and Samsung will be hoping to build on that success.
To facilitate that, there's a chance Samsung prices the Galaxy Z Fold4 lower than the Galaxy Z Fold3. Ross Young appears to strongly believe that at least. It wouldn't be surprising, as the Galaxy Z Fold3 debuted at US$1799 versus the Galaxy Z Fold2's US$1999 launch MSRP. The Galaxy Z Fold4 will face stiff competition from devices like OnePlus's upcoming foldable and the Google Pixel Notepad, and while it already has the advantage of being a fourth-gen product, pricing looks set to become a major factor in the segment.
