Sony and Microsoft announce collaboration on the future of Azure AI and imaging sensors
Microsoft and Sony have just announced a partnership to develop certain overlapping aspects of each company's technology together in the future. Under the terms of this new agreement, Sony will inform the development of certain semiconductors at Microsoft. In return, the latter will enhance the future of gaming and content streaming on the former's platforms using its Azure solutions for data-centers.
More specifically, representatives from Sony will inform the development of upcoming image sensors for Azure's AI. This is intended to boost applications such as cloud or edge computing, in addition to anything else that could benefit from the resulting new technology.
In return, Azure will be further optimized in order to enhance gaming and content consumption on hardware such as PlayStations. This aspect of the partnership may also lead to the incorporation of Microsoft AI into these devices, as well as other Sony products along these lines.
Microsoft's CEO, Satya Nadella, was quoted as saying "Sony has always been a leader in both entertainment and technology, and the collaboration we announced today builds on this history of innovation" in conjunction with this announcement. "Our partnership brings the power of Azure and Azure AI to Sony to deliver new gaming and entertainment experiences for customers."
